Pine Siskin: A Lifer!!

I am happy to add to my "lifer" list...Pine Siskin...I didn't know they were finches. They are the same size as the Goldfinches and House Finches. They have a stripey breast with the stripes being a light brown color. They have a yellow wing bar and some yellow on their tails. At first I mistook them as female House Finches until I got a closer look at their beak. Pine Siskins have a pointy beak and House Finches have a conical shape beak.

The Junco I have pictured is the prettiest colored Junco I have ever seen. It is the only one I have seen with that color of plumage. I wasn't sure if it was a Junco...is it a Junco??

HaPpY VaLeNtInE's DaY!! Everybody :-))

It's hard to tell some of them apart, especially if they are juveniles. Very cute - can't wait to see more!

Congratulations on the life bird! It's always fun to add one to the list. Beautiful backyard bird images! Yes, that sweet bird is a Junco.

Congrats on the lifer. My yard comes alive with Pine Siskins during the summer months. They are such cute little birds to watch.

Congratulations on bagging another lifer Cindy. We have had a single female (Eurasian) Siskin sporadically visiting one of our feeders but still waiting to get a clear picture!.

It a long time that I have seen a lifer here.
I like that one with melting ice.

...I've been waiting 11 years for a Pine Siskin to come to my feeders! You're so lucky! I had one at our first house about 20 years ago...

I'm a little late - getting caught up on visits after having lots of company (and more to come !).

Great series, Cindy ! I like the detail you capture. We usually get lots of juncos in the wintertime - this looks like one, but I'm no expert !
