Wings on Wednesday

Pearl Crescent
I took this photo during my visit to
South Dakota (my stomping grounds)
My in~laws have a gorgeous garden and
there were butterflies all over. This one
sat still enough to capture a few pics.

Here is another view. To find their IDs, I
get on the internet and go to butterflies and moths of
north america (google that) that site posts
lots of butterfly and moth species. Then I study my
photograph or butterfly/moth specimen and compare
it to ID'd photos on the website :-))
I'm definitely not an expert!

I'm a beginning artist as well...I've always
enjoyed drawing and sketching. I've begun
to study watercolor painting and watercolor
pencil art. I'm combining my love of the
beauty of nature with my art. I've started a
"nature sketchbook" to record sketches of nature.
Right now I'm on a kick of sketching all the real butterfly
and moth specimens that I and my family have captured.
One of the sketches is pictured above.

I'm still into birds...it's just that its been too hot
to go out looking for them. And there haven't
been many in the backyard. It turned cool today
YAYYYYY!! It was 96 degrees yesterday and it's 77 today :-))
"it's such a blessin'...it doesn't seem natural" (a quote from
the movie The Yearling)

Happy Wednesday!! Everyone!!

Nice shot of the butterfly--it is a challenge to catch them "sitting still". Good luck on your sketching and painting- a lovely hobby to pursue. Isn't it nice to have some cooler temps roll into Kansas. Hottest summer ever!!! Mickie :)

Lovely images of the Pearl Crescent, Cindy! I bought a wonderful National Geographic Butterfly field guide to identify butterflies with but I often look at the site you mentioned too.

Love the Wood Nymph sketch! Beautiful colors and detail. Your artistic talent shines bright!

Finally, after 4 tries can post a comment. I will explain below but first...

You have many talents and now add artist to them, what a perfect drawing of the moth!

I was looking at some of your photos and I see mimosa, I have always wanted to take a pic of the fluffy pink flowers but the trees in our area were way too tall for me to get close.

Note, posting on blogs when the comment page is not a PopUp is difficult for me and others. For some reason blogspot has not fixed this problem so I cant sign under my ID. When I go to post it ask me to choose a profile, I choose my google acct and it directs me back to log on... So if you would think about changing your comment page to a popup it would sure help those that are like me trying to post under our IDs. Also... I am having a difficult time with "Word Verification", I go to clink on the Post Comment and then my computer locks up. I have had to stop commenting on blogs with this feature attached to the comment page. I find I am not the only one having this trouble and maybe other that are trying to post a comment to your blog are having the same issue. I tred to reach you by email but I cant find where you r address is. I hope maybe you will think about deleting that feature and go to Moderate Comments. This way those that are having trouble can post you kind words.

Hope your day is blessed.

Thank you Kerri, Julie and Tammy!!

Sorry Tammy, that you were having so much trouble. I looked into what you described and did some changing. I haven't done anything with settings since the day I began this blog. Hopefully the changes you suggested makes it easier to comment. Thank you so much...I am clueless about techi things on here...but, I can learn!
