House Finches arrived in the middle of March.
This is the female.
Male House Finch
I'm not sure where the House Finches Winter...probably in the SW part of the state. The KS field guide says they are a permanent resident, but we only see them in the Spring & Summer. They like to nest in hanging plants so I put my Boston Fern out hoping to get a nesting family. One year we had a Finch family that successfully raised 2 chicks :-)

Lovely shots! We got house finches around here but the males don't seem to be quite as colourful as these.
Hi Cindy, that is an amazing rose colour on the male. It looks something like our Crossbill that we get at certain time of the year.
Thanks for stopping by, Rick! The male H. Finches ARE beautiful and their song is even prettier!
Howdy Roy! Thanks for stopping by! I love the plummage on the male H. Finches! This early evening a pair of Finches were checking out the hanging basket...the male was sitting on the top of it singing his head off for about an hour.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE House finches! Great captures Cindy!
The numbers of House Finches have dropped significantly in my neck of the woods. Nice post and pictures.
Thank you, Kerri!! That "is approbation indeed" coming from you :-) They arrived in early March and we're really enjoying them!
Thank you, Andrew for stopping by and for your comments! I'm really enjoying the H. Finches!
